Kindergarten Registration for 2026-2027

The Salem School District believes strongly that students enrolled in certified kindergarten programs have a greater chance of success throughout their school years and beyond. Tuition-free full-day kindergarten is offered at all five elementary schools for children aged five years old on or before September 30, 2026. 

Online registration for the 2026-2027 school year will open 

Monday, January 12 at 9:00 a.m.

What to do on January 12 –

ALREADY HAVE A STUDENT IN THE SALEM SCHOOL DISTRICT?

Log into your Parent Portal account and access “Online Registration” via the “More” link. Select the “2026-27 (Next Year)” button to start the registration.

Need a parent portal account? Contact the Salem IT Department at (603) 893-7069 x5700 to get your Activation Key between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. M-F.

NEW FAMILY TO THE SALEM SCHOOL DISTRICT?

Access the application on our New Student Registration website and select the link – “Start or Return to a New Registration Application…” and then select the “2026-2027 (Next Year)” button to start the registration.

ALL NEW STUDENT REGISTRATIONS

The online registration form will require approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. You should be prepared to enter or update the following information and provide the necessary documentation. 

• Household information 

• Parent/guardian Information

• Emergency Contacts

• Student Information

The online registration form allows for the direct upload of electronic documents -- either scans or photographs. PDF files are preferred. If you are unable to upload electronic documents, you must still complete the online registration form.  Once your registration is submitted and has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the registrar if  more information or documents are needed. 

 

KEY DATES

• Monday, January 12, 2026    - Kindergarten registration opens.

• January through February - Emails will be sent to parents/guardians indicating tentative kindergarten placement at neighborhood school pending completion of paperwork. If enrollment at your neighborhood school is at full capacity, your child will be placed on a waitlist in order of registration. Students on a waitlist will be notified of placement no later than May 23, 2026.
